What needs to be done

Australian/New Zealand Standards stipulate the ruling regarding various environments, and types of work,  Standards are living documents which reflect progress in science, technology and
systems. To maintain their currency, all Standards are periodically reviewed, and
new editions are published. Between editions, amendments may be issued.
It is important that  contractors and businesses assure themselves that
they are using a current Standard.

The current electrical standard for medical treatment areas stipulates that all patient areas shall be body-protected electrical areas or cardiac protected electricalareas, the main function of this standard is to ensure the electrical safety of patients, in particularly where an applied part ( i.e. a dental hand-piece) will come into contact with the human body.

  • 4x faster disconnection during fault
  • Replacement of power points
  • Isolation switches for fixed equipment
  • Electrical separation from other areas
  • Yearly test reports as required
  • Aesthetically pleasing systemdesign 
  • Indicators to show available power 
  • Antimicrobial switches and power points
  • Circuit test facilities
  • Re-running  or replacement of power cables  
  • Certification for body protection
  • Signage identifying protected ares
  • Thorough discussion regarding requirements
